American Mountaineering Center
The American Mountaineering Center is one of the largest libraries of mountaineering information in the United States. An auditorium is used for guest speakers and can house groups of up to 375 people.

The Geology Museum in Golden features a number of mineral specimens found locally, as well as a reconstructed underground gold mine. Dating back to 1874, this collection offers a range of unique formations. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

The historic locomotives and cars on display at this railroad museum includes more than 70 narrow and standard gauge vehicles. The museum acquires and exhibits railroad equipment and artifacts on a 15 acre property with the aim of demonstrating the importance of the railroad in Colorado's history.

Founded in 1938 as a WPA project, the museum houses artifacts from nearby archeological sites and pioneer days with emphasis on the years 1859-1930. The museum's research library contains historical and genealogical volumes, documents, and photographs, a gift shop and free admission. Monday – Saturday 10am-4:30pm. Summer hours include Sundays 11am – 5pm.
